AnimaDOC: (un)real stories

The concept of animated documentary sounds like a misunderstanding: documentary film – a medium intended to record real life and animation – where the whole life is created via artificial objects. Despite their differences, they blend wonderfully and allow to represent objects, situations, memories or traumatic experiences via metaphor, while the unlimited possibilities of animation provide the creative freedom. In this year’s AnimaDOC programme – there are eight films, their themes vary from Hillsborough disaster, which altered the traditions of football matches forever, intimate stories of serial killer’s Richard Ramirez fans, unbelievable and comic stories of contraband marihuana from Jamaica to an experimental portrait of the most vertical city in the world – Hong Kong.
