Festival venues

The 17th edition of the Vilnius Short Film Festival is scheduled to take place from January 17th to January 23rd, 2024. Screenings of short films will be available both in physical venues (movie theaters) and virtually.

The festival will be hosted at various locations, including the “Pasaka” movie theatre (in Paupys and Old Town), the cinema center “Skalvija,” the “MO” museum, Martynas Mažvydas National Library of Lithuania, the cinema center “Romuva” in Kaunas, the cinema center “Arlekinas” in Klaipėda, and the photography museum in Šiauliai.

Events for Industry Days will be held at Martynas Mažvydas National Library of Lithuania (Gedimino pr. 51, Vilnius) on January 18th – 19th, 2024.

Movie Theatre “Pasaka”

Virtual festival

The festival programs will be accessible on the virtual cinema platform “ŽMONĖS Cinema” throughout the festival from January 17th to January 23rd.

  • Price: Each program is available for 4.99 Eur. Once purchased, the preview is valid for 48 hours.
  • Restrictions: Please note that due to license restrictions, viewing the programs in countries other than the designated region is not permitted.

FAQ

–        Can I watch a single movie and not the whole program?

To watch your desired movie, you need to view the entire program. The Vilnius Short Film Festival comprises 19 different programs, each containing 4 to 7 short films. An exception is the short film night, which consists of 20 films selected from various programs.

–        Am I able to watch the short film night program virtually?

No, the short film night will only be available in movie theatres such as “Pasaka,” “Romuva,” “Arlekinas,” and the photography museum in Šiauliai.

–        How long does the short film night take?

The short film night lasts 300 minutes (5 hours) with a short break of 20 minutes.

–        Will the National Competition programs have English subtitles?

Yes, the National Competition programs will have English subtitles. Additionally, they will include SDH subtitles, which provide crucial non-dialogue information for the deaf and hard of hearing, such as sound effects, music, and speaker identification. In Vilnius’s “MO” museum, the National Competition programs will feature not only SDH subtitles but also sound imaging, offering descriptive narration for individuals with vision impairments.

–        In what language will the interviews with filmmakers be held?

Interviews and Q&A sessions after the screenings with International Competition program filmmakers will be in English. For National Competition programs, they will be conducted in Lithuanian and translated into Lithuanian sign language.

–        When will the results be announced?

The results will be announced after the award ceremony on January 21st.

–        What kind of awards could the competition program films win?

An international jury will decide and present awards for the best international and national competition program films, with one film receiving the Grand Prix. You can find information about the festival’s jury here.
