Culture Night 2020: Vilnius International Short Film Festival presents a special screening

Lithuanian Short Film Agency “Lithuanian Shorts” and Vilnius International Short Film Festival present a special screening “Short, Yet Films: Lithuanian Stories”.

The program for the Kultūros naktis / Culture Night presents five Lithuanian short films from the festival’s National competition 2020.

 

“Short, Yet Films: Lithuanian Stories” on the 25th of September, 8 pm and 9.40 pm at the Arts Printing House (Šiltadaržio str. 6, Vilnius).

 

Duration 63’. Recommended 13+

All films with English subtitles.

The Juggler

We live in the same house, but in different apartments, jobs, situations, believes, visions. Each in our own compartment, we fool ourselves that the world is one and that it exists. Sometimes it seems that an incomprehensible thread becomes visible and I am on a verge of understanding… This film is about the other side of life – the scary, unknown side we never fully grasp, but we know is there, somewhere near, so close.

 

Caucasus 

Lithuania | 2018 | Fiction | 14 min.

Tekle with her daughter Ema comes back from abroad to visit Dalia, Tekle’s mother. Ema goes outside to walk her grandmother’s dog. Immediately after discovering that Ema went outside alone Dalia starts searching for her. Dalia fears that something terrible might have happened to Ema.

 

Family Unit

Eimantas and Migle have been together for only a couple of months. Migle’s grandfather has been living in an apartment that is too big for him. That’s why Migle’s parents decide that he is finally going to live with them. In order to please his girlfriend, Eimantas comes to the grandfather’s home to help Migle’s family move all the furniture. But not every family member is happy about the presence of Eimantas.

 

When Children Come Home

Ieva and Kasparas, sister and brother, are locked out of their home. Their mother has shut the door from the inside and is out of reach. The older sister Dovilė is their last hope, but even with her being there, there’s nothing they can do, but wait.

 

Quartz

Winter in Soviet Lithuanian School. School authorities introduce regular quartz lamp sessions – so that children could receive a missing vitamin D amount. But for the sixth-grader Pijus, vitamin D is not important, he cares about a cool classmate, sadly this is a one-sided feeling. During the first quartz lamp session, the boy bravely violates the rules in order to impress his crush.
