About the director:
Ariel Victor Arthanto (he/him) is an Indonesian-born filmmaker, animator, and illustrator based in Berlin. He holds a BA in Animation from RMIT University, Melbourne, and an MFA in Animation Directing from the Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF, Germany. Specializing in 2D animation, Ariel creates imaginative, colorful worlds that blend whimsy with emotional depth, capturing the surreal and the deeply human. His animated films have screened and received awards at festivals including Animafest Zagreb, ITFS Stuttgart, and the Annecy International Animation Festival. His latest film, I Am A Flower (2024), explores themes of family, queer identity, and self-discovery.
