A hot summer day. Cherry branches weighed down by ripe berries are dangling over the roof of a summer house. Recently retired father invites his son to help him with the cherry picking in the garden. The father is in no hurry to finish the cherry job though, as he tries to catch up with his son. The cherries remain in the background.

 

About the director:

Vytautas Katkus (b. 1991) is one of Lithuania’s most talented and fastest rising directors and cinematographers. He graduated from the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre with a bachelor’s degree in cinematography and is currently studying for a master’s degree. Vytautas’ debut short film “Community Gardens” (2019) was selected for the Semaine de la Critique, and his second short film “Places” (2020) premiered at the Venice Film Festival, Orrizonti programme. In 2022, Vytautas presented his third short film “Cherries” (2022) in the Cannes Film Festival’s main short film competition. Vytautas is currently developing his debut feature film “The Visitor”.
